Community and Neighbourhoods
Community Consultation
Some larger or more complex planning applications will require consultation with the local community. The main purpose of community consultation is to pick up any potential issues and deal with them prior to submission. Community consultation is also a good opportunity for local people to influence a planning application proposal in a constructive way.
Sometimes a proposal may draw in opposition from a local community. Our community engagement strategies are designed to work with members of the community who are anti-development in a positive way. We can put forward your proposal in the best possible light using clear to understand literature and images. We use a range of techniques to document any comments or concerns which may arise. These are then analysed and the proposal is amended if necessary. Quite often, we will produce a Statement of Community Involvement to show how we have engaged with the wider community.

Neighbourhood Planning
Neighbourhood Planning is a way for communities to guide the future development of their area. The Planning and Compensation Act 2011 provides for Town and Parish Councils or Neighbourhood Forums to write their own planning documents which contain policies relating to land use and are used in the decision-making on planning applications.
A range of help can be given from the very beginnings of setting up a steering group, identifying the skills and resources available in the community and deciding on the reasons behind the decision to preparing a Neighbourhood Plan.
Advice and practical help is available, such as applying for grant funding, planning and carrying out public consultation and developing a Vision and objectives for the plan.
Each community is different and each Neighbourhood Plan has different objectives.
A bespoke package will be developed with the client to ensure that the Neighbourhood Plan is prepared properly and accords with the requirements and regulations.

Community Representation
We can act for organisations, action groups and individuals who wish to:
Submit planning applications;
object to planning applications or support planning applications;
appeal planning decisions; and

Please also see our representations and letters page for how we can help.
Planning Profiles

We can extract the most up to date information available about potential future housing or employment growth in an area. From the planning application history of the neighbouring houses to larger scale developments that may be planned in the next 10 years.
